Part 2- Jenny Park, Claire Jung
  • 4. What characters are introduced? Characterization: physical description, attitudes, beliefs, background, etc
    • Dr. Jekyll comes out for the first time, and Mr. Utterson comes out continuously. Dr. Jekyll is large, well-made, smooth-faced, and he is fifty years old. He is kind and acts civil. However, when Utterson mentions Hyde, Dr. Jekyll is reluctant to talk about him and suddenly becomes pale and his eyes turn black. He looks nervous and full of anxiety when the topic of Hyde comes out, and Jekyll looks like he is hiding something from Mr. Utterson. Dr. Jekyll is a scientist and he is rich. He believes that Utterson is his best friend, and doesn't like Lanyon (describes him as a "blatant pedant"). Dr. Jekyll has good friends who are intelligent and reputable.
